At an early age, Laurel was traveling from her home state, Maine, with a competition team throughout New England and New York. In high school, she trained during several summers at the Bates College Dance Festival and Illadelph Legends with Rennie Harris and other dance pioneers. That exposure got her invited in 2002 to be a member of Montazh Performing Arts Company, an all-female hip hop dance company in Philadelphia. Laurel also trained at the Academy of Social Dance in Philadelphia where she went on to teach social and competitive American style Rhythm and Smooth. She has performed in several competitions and shows throughout the United States including ballroom competitions, Ladies of Hip Hop and the Philly Fringe Festival.
